   Integrating the Plugin Through WordPress UI

Prerequisites

Before starting the integration process, please make sure that:

  • You have an admin account at the WordPress website you plan to install the plugin on.
  • You do have the WordPress version 2.8 or later.
  • You do have a GroupDocs account.
  • Your web server supports PHP cURL extension.
  • cURL extension is enabled (extension=php_curl.dll).

Installing, and Activating GroupDocs.Annotation plugin in WordPress

To install, and activate the GroupDocs.Annotation plugin, do the following:

  1. Log in to WordPress installation using your credentials.

  2. Click Plugins > Add New.

  3. Under Search, in the search field, enter groupdocs annotation and then click Search Plugins.

    Note:
    The search field is not case sensitive.


    Result: The GroupDocs.Annotation plugin is displayed.

  4. Click the Install Now link.

  5. In the newly popped up confirmation window, click OK.

    Result: The plugin is successfully installed and you are directed to a new page with installation successful message.

  6. To activate the plugin, click the Activate Plugin link.

    Result: The plugin is activated and is displayed in the plugins list.

Configuring Your GroupDocs API Details in WordPress

  1. Point to Settings, and then click GroupDocs.Annotation.

  2. In the User Id and Private Key fields, enter the required details, and then click Save Changes.

    Tip:
    For more information on Client ID and API Keys, please refer to: How To Get Your GroupDocs API Keys?


    Result: The API details are saved.

Embedding the Document Along with GroupDocs.Annotation App to WordPress Page

To embed the document along with GroupDocs.Annotation app, do the following:

  1. Point to Posts, and then click Add New.
  2. Enter a title (for example, GD Annotation Test) in the title field, and then click Unable to render embedded object: File (GroupDocs.Annotation Embedded icon.png) not found. (the GroupDocs.Annotation Embedded icon).

    Result: The GroupDocs.Annotation Embedded window is displayed.

    You can embed the document along with the GroupDocs.Annotation app using any of the following methods:

    • Method 1: Browse & Embed
    • Method 2: Upload & Embed
    • Method 3: Paste Link

Method 1: Browse & Embed

Note:
When the GroupDocs.Annotation Embedded window is displayed, by default, the Browse & Embed tab is selected. You can view that all your GroupDocs folders and files are loaded under the Browse & Embed area.
  1. In the GroupDocs.Annotation Embedded window, under the Browse & Embed tab, click your preferred document to be embedded, and then click Insert.

    Result: The code with document ID is automatically included into the WordPress editor.

  2. Click Save Draft > Publish.

    Result: Now, the GroupDocs.Annotation app along with the selected document is embedded to the newly created page.

Method 2: Upload & Embed

  1. In the GroupDocs.Annotation Embedded window, click the Upload & Embed tab, click Browse and select your preferred document to be embedded, and then click Insert.

    Result: You are automatically redirected to the Browse & Embed tab.You can view the newly uploaded document in the Browse & Embed area.

  2. Click the newly uploaded document to be embedded, and then click Insert.

    Result: The code with document ID is automatically included into the WordPress editor.

  3. Click Save Draft > Publish.

    Result: Now, the GroupDocs.Annotation app along with the selected document is embedded to the newly created page.

Method 3: Paste Link

  1. In the GroupDocs.Annotation Embedded window, click the Paste Link tab, paste the GUID in the Document Link field, and then click Insert.

    Note:
    The GUID is the embed code you copy from GroupDocs.Annotation dashboard. For more information on File ID or GUID, please refer to: How To Get the GUID (Or Document ID)?

    Result: The code with document ID is automatically included into the WordPress editor.

  2. Click Save Draft > Publish.

    Result: Now, the GroupDocs.Annotation app along with the selected document is embedded to the newly created page.

Viewing the Embedded Document and Annotation App

After you have embedded the document and published the page using any of the methods explained above, do the following steps to view the embedded Annotation app in action:

  • Go to your WordPress webpage to which you have embedded the document.

    Result: You can see the embedded document along with the GroupDocs.Annotation app in action.
